If your church has identified its family caregivers, what ministries, programs, or strategies are in place to address the stress, denial, depression, guilt, burnout, etc. that often accompany the responsibilities family caregivers consistently face?
Prayer and faith are invaluable and must be partnered with wisdom and good strategies to tangibly address the challenges family caregivers face. Leaders should not only have the passion, but some hands-on experience as a family caregiver. They should be able to relate to caregivers by way of their own experiences. They must create a well-balanced, nonjudgmental environment, where caregivers can share their heart, and enjoy their time while learning.
If there are ministries, programs, and strategies in place, how do you measure their effectiveness and how often are they evaluated?
There should be ongoing evaluations to determine if the level of caregiver stress, denial, depression, guilt, burnout, etc. is being better managed, has been diminished or eliminated. Evaluations can also be used to justify any necessary changes to the curriculum being used.
